Why Blue Sky?
What makes Blue Sky the company you should choose?
What makes Blue Sky Adventures better than the rest?
Since 1974, we have had a simple way of answering these questions.
We are better because of our staff. Because we take pride in doing our jobs well. Because your safety is our greatest concern. Because we feel that a rafting trip is much more than a few hours floating on the river. Because we pay attention to your needs, and those of your kids, grandparents, and friends. Because we always want you to return.
This is our answer; but more importantly, it is the way we operate. Join us as our guest, and let us prove why we are simply the best.
Blue Sky Adventures
Since 1974, we have been dedicated to Safety, Service, and Professionalism.
While rafting with us, you have the opportunity to enjoy three unique rivers. The Crystal, the Roaring Fork, and the Colorado Rivers are all within a 15-minute drive from our office in the Hotel Colorado.
During spring and early summer, the Crystal and Roaring Fork Rivers are at their best. With majestic views of Mount Sopris, abundant wildlife, and the thrill of Class III water through the Boulder Patch and Cemetery Rapids, these rivers are for all ages and experience levels. Float through one of Colorado’s few protected Bald Eagle Nesting Areas and a large rookery for the Great Blue Heron. These two rivers are truly beautiful and run from April through June.
The Colorado River through the Glenwood Canyon provides 18 miles of unbelievable views and amazing history. Touted as the “River of the West,” the Colorado flows through the 1000 feet deep Glenwood Canyon, a section that offers both calm water and incredible Class III-IV whitewater on the two-mile stretch of the Shoshone Rapids. With wide open channels and excellent water flows, the Colorado River provides an ideal setting for all ages and experience levels. The rugged canyon walls also house various creatures where Big Horn Sheep, Mule Deer, Bear, Bald Eagles, Red Tail Hawks, and Marmots are routinely spotted. Without a doubt, Glenwood Canyon provides an incredible setting for your family’s next adventure.
The town of Glenwood Springs is nestled in the heart of the Colorado Rocky Mountains. Located 40 miles from Aspen and 60 miles from Vail, Glenwood is at the crossroads of the resort communities. Sitting at the confluence of the Colorado and Roaring Fork Rivers, Glenwood is the ideal location for rafting, fishing, and kayaking aficionados. The town is the ultimate destination for outdoor enthusiasts, offering an array of activities the whole family can enjoy, from whitewater rafting, biking, and hiking to swimming in the world’s largest hot springs swimming pool.
With an elevation of 5,746 feet and breathtaking views of Mount Sopris, this mountain town is steeped in history and rich tradition. Numerous celebrities and legendary characters have visited the area including the infamous gunslinger Doc Holliday, gangster Al Capone, and President Theodore Roosevelt. Wherever you look, a piece of Glenwood’s history can be found, from its historical landmark buildings that line the downtown to abandoned Vapor Caves that Ute Indians once used for medicinal purposes.
During the month of June thousands of locals gather for the celebration of Strawberry Days. One of the oldest festivals west of the Mississippi, this three-day event includes food, drinks, booths, and live music celebrating Glenwood’s unique history. Whether it is spring, summer, winter or fall, with everything Glenwood has to offer, you and your family are assured a great time.
